I have been unable to locate any info on the PowerBooks password protecion routines, I have however decided the code is held in ROM as it runs before any of the System file is loaded (numerous system code patch attempts led me to this belief). I can only presume that powerbooks have extended PRAM that holds password settings as I've searched everywhere for them.
This util will help some users but regretably not all.
You need access to the PowerBooks hard drive to get this util to work, simply run Password killer ( a hacked "Password Security" control panel) and you're able to turn off password security without entering a valid password - just enter any!! So if your trusted to use the powerbook under supervision then you'll be able to turn off password protection and use it whenever you want. Due to the way password protection works you are unable to get access to the hard disk by running Apples "Disk Tool" disk with this util on it, the Mac OS is simply too smart for that lame trick!!
Its even possible to alter the password, do the following -
choose set-up and enter your new password (when prompted for the original one)
change the password and confirmation passwords to the same as the one you just entered.
Hey presto, someone has a Mac which they dont know the password too, so turn on password security, reboot and watch em start sh*tting themselves. If you wanna earn some cash, tell em "you have a mate" who'll "hack" into it and get them access for a bit of cash, then take the powerbook away and enter the new password. Simply return the powerbook a couple of days later with a bill for whatever you think the sucker will pay.
